5 Necessities Done Daily

Have you ever considered that the necessities you do daily are a good reason to smile? Do you even know what these necessities are? If we don’t do these things, we won’t be able to survive. They are vitally important for us not only to survive, but to live well and to appreciate and function.

5 Necessities Done Daily are a Good Reason to Smile

Doing these five necessities daily – breathe, eat, drink, sleep, and love – as we enjoy this journey we call life is a start to finding our smile.

Breathe - A Good reason to smile

the word breathe written on a sandy beach

Every breath we take keeps us alive, rejuvenates the mind, and oxygenates the blood. Without the air we breathe, we would not survive like a fish wouldn’t survive without water.

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

Why is breathing a good reason to smile?  When you take a deep breath through your nose, your sense of smell is heightened.  Picture standing on a sandy beach by the ocean breathing in the air as the wind blows or sitting next to a campfire roasting marshmallows. Furthermore, as the image surfaces, you probably can remember exactly how it smelled as if you’re experiencing it right at this moment.

So first, breathing gives you a sense of smell. Secondly, taking a large breath through your mouth fills up your lungs, relaxing you as you let the air out through your nose. The relaxation eases tension in your muscles and clears your mind. Breathing is a good reason to smile.

Eat - A Good Reason to Smile

Food is essential part of life for it nourishes your body and strengthens your bones and brain functions. There are healthy, snack, and comfort foods. No matter what, let’s face it: we love to eat, at least I have never met a person who didn’t.

You’ve probably attended different types of gatherings – a family reunion, a birthday or some other kind of party, a funeral – and naturally, there will be a selection of food. Eating is definitely something we all do for enjoyment. It’s an icebreaker, where you smile and laugh with others while sharing delicious food.

"One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating."

Drink - A Good Reason to Smile

Since our bodies are made up of 70 percent of water, it’s understandable that it would be an essential necessity. Water cleanses the body on the inside and out. It keeps us from dehydrating, and it’s healthy for the body and skin.

"Drinking water is like taking a shower on the inside of your body."

We’re required to drink eight full glasses of water a day to flush out the toxins in the body. Water removes dirt and grime, not only from our bodies, but from our dishes, clothes, even our cars. And lastly, we use water recreationally – swimming, boating, fishing, etc. This liquid refreshment certainly contributes to our wellbeing and happiness.

Sleep - A Good Reason to Smile

Sleeping rejuvenates the body and is a part of a healthy regimen. Being well rested makes us feel good. We are more apt to be happy and not irritable or cranky.

"Sleep is the golden chain that binds health and our bodies together."

Sleeping restores our energy and invigorates our mind. When we’re sick, sleeping is the best remedy. Becoming sleep-deprived can be just as detrimental to our life as not breathing, eating, or drinking.

Love - A Good Reason to Smile

a couple in love

Life is about people. Interacting with someone on a daily basis and having a deep connection with someone gives our life purpose. We discover each other’s likes, dislikes, beliefs, and thrive on our ability to communicate and be sociable.

"Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life."

When we meet someone and fall in love, our heart pounds within our chest at just the mere thought or sight of that person. Love is definitely a necessity and a strong part of life.

In Conclusion

Ultimately, life is a blessing, something to be treasured and enjoyed. We have the ability and the choice to make it a good life, and those five abilities are part of what makes life enjoyable.

I hope this post has given you insight on how the most important necessities we do daily are something that should bring a smile to our face.
